"Las Dos Fridas"[title 1] is the sixteenth episode of ABC Family's Switched at Birth Season One and the series overall. It was written by Henry Robles and it was directed by Chris Grismer. It was originally aired on February 7th, 2012.
Angelo is still missing after Adrianna called immigration on him. With Angelo gone, Regina has to give up the dream of owning her own salon. Meanwhile, Kathryn’s mom (and Daphne's biological grandmother), Bonnie, comes for a visit. Bay becomes jealous when Grandma Bonnie gives Daphne special treatment and stirs up even more trouble when she give her a special necklace--a family heirloom meant for Bay--to Daphne. Kathryn realizes Bonnie’s new attitude towards Bay is based on racism and confronts her. Bonnie admits to Kathryn that she sees Bay differently, and Bay overhears the conversation.
Daphne & Simone have to perform community service in East Riverside after Simone gets them into a fight with one of the girls from East Riverside when she accuses her of stealing her watch. Daphne tries to make amends with her old friend from East Riverside, but she tells Daphne that she's changed. Toby gets a glimpse of Simone’s controlling side when she tries to change his look for a gig but ultimately stands up to her.
When Kathryn, Bonnie, Daphne and Bay go to tea, Bay breaks down about what her grandmother said and storms out, leaving to go destroy her mural. Regina comforts Bay and together, they repair her mural before it can be seen. With Regina angry over Angelo possibly being deported, Adrianna decides to move out. Daphne helps her move back across town, and Adrianna helps Daphne remember who she is. Daphne returns the necklace to Bonnie, who gives it to Bay. Just before Bonnie leaves, Kathryn confronts her, telling her mother that she and John are buying out Bonnie’s share of the Kennish car wash business.

Kathryn's mother Bonnie (Meredith Baxter) visits the family and bonds with Daphne though mainly over how she is one of them family by her blood and in result practically ignores Bay now "seeing her differently," since she isn't her biological grandchild. This forms a wedge between her and Bay as well as Katheryn feeling Bay will always be her daughter no matter what a blood test says and where Bay biologically comes from. Meanwhile, Daphne meets up with Monica, a teenage Latina from her old neighborhood, who now treats her differently since she's moved out of their town, but Daphne still feels a strong connection with where she was raised. During all this, Bay and Regina look into Angelo's disappearance; and Toby realizes he can only please Simone if he changes.

Toby: to Simone]: Is that it? Or is this just an excuse for you to mold me into something you want me to be?
Grandma Bonnie: Don't put words in my mouth.
Daphne: [to Monica] I'm the same Daphne I was before. My last name's still Vasquez.
Daphne: Angelo is gone and he's still causing problems!
Regina: [to Adrianna] You couldn't help it, could you? You just had to let him know that you were the one who blew the whistle.
Grandma Bonnie: [to Kathryn] She (Bay) is not your DNA. Daphne is. You carried her. Regina carried Bay. She has a connection with Bay you are never gonna have.
Adrianna: [to Daphne] Your zip code changed, you didn't. You're Daphne Vasquez.
